A new team, and a ground-up rebuild

The biggest change wasn't in the game, it was behind it. AimRPG grew from a one-person project into a team of specialists. Day to day it's driven mostly by Crin and River, the two biggest contributors by time and progress, now backed by around 16 volunteers. Artists are working together on the game's look and feel, and the security and programming side has grown enormously: highly skilled reverse engineers and pentesters from around the world, including people known for cracking major AAA titles, alongside security engineers and networking engineers who have worked on FAANG-scale platforms. The game also runs on a custom StrongDot engine built by titoot, the developer behind KeyDot.

With the new team came a fresh start for the game itself:

  • Rebuilt from the ground up: the client was rebuilt as a faster, more modular native app.
  • Encrypted runtime delivery: the game now streams from the server as encrypted modules at runtime, so startup is far faster, updates are smaller, and new content can arrive without a full client patch.
  • Real-time co-op: team up with other players in live co-op dungeons and boss fights.
  • Live spectating: watch other players' runs as they happen, and see who's online and what they're playing from a new players list.
  • New account backend: a rebuilt backend with a refreshed Discord sign-in.

Benchmark Arena, Collection Log & smoother play

  • Benchmark Arena, a brand-new competitive aim benchmark with its own tab. Play a fixed set of scenarios for one overall rank that measures pure aim, and it becomes your primary profile rank (your aim-training ranks move to a hover).
  • New Collection Log, browse every hunting monster by area to see which drops you've obtained, with per-monster drop counts, time played and drop rates on hover (even for drops you haven't found yet).
  • Made combat more RNG and RuneScape-like, enemy attacks now roll within a min/max damage range instead of a fixed hit (nothing hits harder than before).
  • Profile polish, your sidebar opens with a personal chip showing your avatar (click it to change your picture), plus a cleaner, always-visible rank badge.
  • Smoother gameplay, hunted down and eliminated the stutters and freezes that used to hit your first and mid-run rounds.
